If I knew then what I know now

When I first started on this journey of self discovery, awakening, remembering back in 2008 I didn’t know where it would lead or how different I would be….I wanted to know it all, fix it all and get back to my life. What I didn’t realise was that it would be a constant death and rebirth process. That there were many layers of pain, ancestral patterns, cellular memories, old beliefs that needed to fall away first and that would take time. I needed to enjoy the unfolding process.
I am reminded of this beautiful quote by Nhat Hahn
When you are a young person, you are like a young creek and you meet many difficulties on your way. You hurry to get past these obstacles and get to the ocean. But as the creek moves down through the fields, it becomes larger and calmer and it can enjoy the reflection of the sky. It’s wonderful. You will arrive at the sea anyway so enjoy the journey. Enjoy the sunshine, the sunset, the moon, the birds, the trees and the many beauties along the way. Taste every moment of your daily life”

We have been taught to ‘get on with it’, ‘no point crying over spilt milk’ so we do, we get on with it but we also suppress emotions, pain & trauma and that won’t go away just because we don’t think about it. Some people will hold this blocked energy in their physical body and some in their emotional body and some in both. I was one that held it in both as I didn’t know but ‘when you know better, you do better’ isn’t that another great quote. Knowing better simply can mean awareness for some because let’s face it we are all simply just surviving during this 2020 lockdown so many don’t need the added pressure of doing more. Back in 2008 when I attempted to take my own life I did not know what a chakra was and many reading this will probably know what it is so you are well ahead of me but for those that don’t or those that do but are unsure how they can relate to you then this blog post may help. For many years I suffered from physical and emotional pain; headaches, IBS, fatigue, bloated tummy, food intolerances, depression, anxiety & insomnia. I followed a strict diet and exercise regime and yes some symptoms got better but it was when I was introduced to reiki energy healing and the chakras I finally started to heal. Back then I went to a physical therapist for hands on healing which is great but is not essential as healing energy can be felt from a distance and quite powerfully I might add which is convenient use to social distancing. The biggest realisation for me was that we are more than our physical bodies, we have an energy body made up of our aura (energy fields), the chakras (energy centres) and the meridians (energy pathways). We nourish our physical bodies with correct nutrition from food and our energy body needs the same by way of spiritual food through mindfulness, meditation, soul exploration from journaling, time in nature, healthy boundaries etc. The energy fields take in energy, the chakras break it down and the meridians distribute it throughout the body. Our energy fields have been given such a major cleanse over these 9 weeks during lock down so now for the chakras and meridians.

The word chakra is translated as ‘wheel’. These energy centres spin and vibrate at different speeds creating a field around them and they can get blocked up with unhealthy thoughts, heavy emotions like fear, anger or shame and unprocessed trauma. Each energy layer appears different and has it’s own individual function however they overlap with the physical body also which is why it’s no coincidence they there are 7 chakra (energy centres) and 7 hormone glands. The layers I mentioned at the beginning are relevant here with the auric field in a different way. First we have the layer of the etheric field which is connected to the physical body which is why following a balanced diet of good foods and drinks are super important when starting this cleansing process. When you identify which area is out of balance for you can start to eliminate and eat the correct foods for this energy centre / hormone gland for a period of time to bring it into balance. The next layer is the emotional field where we experience feelings and then we have the mental body which is associated with thoughts and mental processes. Lastly we have the spiritual field which is made up of many layers which help us to relate to our higher self or what I like to call connection with soul and is activated when we meditate, pray or channel.
I have created a series of 8 videos on my You Tube Channel to help you understand this process better suggesting simple foods, healing teas and gentle yoga positions or breathing techniques to start working on the etheric field (physical body) for each chakra/hormone gland. I will explain physical/emotional issues that may arise if an area/energy centre is out of balance for you for each chakra taking you into the next layer helping to understand the emotional body. Then I present some affirmations and journal prompt questions to start to explore and cleanse the mental body for processing to help you get to know you better. Lastly I end each video and chakra/hormone gland with a gentle meditation to allow us to penetrate the spiritual field but this one can take time so you may fall asleep or not visually see anything yourself and that’s totally fine or you may have vivid dreams after or see symbolism the more you do the meditation as I encourage you to repeat them.

I suggest going at your own pace. Everyone is different. You can either take a week and watch the introduction and base chakra/ ovary hormone gland (video 1&2) on day one and then day 2 (video 2) or you can watch one per week or every few days to allow the information and energy to integrate. Old memories may arise, unprocessed emotions, detox symptoms such as tiredness, irritability, anxiety so you need to go gently and drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest and reduce alcohol if possible. Once you have watched them all through you will be able to identify going forward which area becomes out of balance as these energy centres open and close daily as we learn to navigate life and process emotions and triggers. You can then simply do the meditation again for that area which is out of balance at the time as a top up.

This content is very top line which is why I am developing a fuller, more structured 8 week program that can be taken LIVE with me in a group setting or stand alone at your own pace. I will walk you through a questionnaire to identify which hormone glands are out of balance personally for you and the corresponding chakra and what exact foods to eat or eliminate for a period of time with recipe plans and ingredient lists. Each week you will receive the information, a meditation, tools and tasks to complete for each energy centre/hormone gland direct to your inbox in a teachable format. In the meantime here are the links to my FREE Chakra/ Hormone 8 video series with a short description on each so you can watch the one that is relevant for how you are feeling today or watch the full series through to understand them better and then do whatever area comes up for you at the time as the chakras are constantly opening and closing so every day will feel different. When we release energy from these chakra they open but when constantly blocked disease can manifest.

1. Introduction; Understanding Self and the Chakra/ Hormone System

The first video is an introduction to the whole chakra and hormone system will a lovely rebalancing meditation at the end.

2. Base Chakra/ Ovary Hormone Glands

In the 2nd video we explore the base chakra and ovary hormone glands located at the base of the spine and within our womb.  This is where we feel totally supported with strong roots and connection to our tribe.  All of our earliest memories are stored here so it’s a powerful one to start with.  When healthy we feel supported, safe, secure And in good physical health.  When out of balance we can feel anxious, disconnected, tired, heavy and not sleeping.  We can crave support and hold onto physical weight also.

3. Sacral Chakra/ Adrenal Hormone Glands

The third video in this series discusses the sacral chakra and adrenal glands (which produce the stress hormone cortisol) a big one for many.  This area governs our emotions and when open and flowing we radiate joy and playfulness.  This is where we create, desire, find pleasure and sensuality in relationships and life.  The physical areas involved here are the lymphatic system, bladder, pelvis and large intestine.

4. Solar Plexus Chakra/ Pancreas Hormone Gland

Video 4 drives our action and purpose governing the power we bring forth to the world.  When in balance we feel confident, courageous and have strong self esteem.  When imbalanced our inner light is weakened and we can feel powerless, angry, obsessive, critical of self and others and have low energy.   Physically this area is governed by the pancreas hormone gland which balance blood sugar levels so issues like diabetes, digestive/ stomach problems or even upper back and spine issues.

5. Heart Chakra/ Thymus Hormone Gland

This heart chakra is the bridge between the upper and lower energy centres so is quite important which is why I filmed it last.  It governs our circulatory, respiratory and lymphatic systems and reflects our ability to love and connect with self and others.  If out of balance we will struggle with change, will suffer from heart or lungs problems, have a weakened immune system, may suffer upper back pain, feel clingy or needy and suffer from hand/arm related problems like carpel tunnel or numbness.

6. Throat Chakra/ Thyroid Hormone Gland

The throat chakra is known as the purification centre and is connected to our self expression and speaking our truth.  The thyroid hormone gland ensures we have a strong metabolism so a healthy weight and sufficient physical energy.  If out of balance we may suffer respiratory conditions such as asthma or have issues with our neck, jaw and speech.

7. Third Eye Chakra/ Pituitary Hormone Gland

The 7th video looks at the 3rd eye chakra and governs the pituitary and pineal glands really and is the seat of our willpower. When out of balance we can suffer headaches, neurological problems, sinus issues and eye problems.  When under active we can feel indecisive, confused, rigid, suffer insomnia, feel anxious, and may have intestinal issues also.  As this area is the master hormone gland it connects with the other hormones glands such as the adrenals and thyroid as they are common ones that often get knocked out of balance.

8. Crown Chakra/ Pineal HormoneGland

Lastly we have the crown chakra and corresponding hormone gland the pineal.  When in balance we can feel a healthy connection to our deep selves and soul.  When out of balance we feel disconnected from ourselves, not supported and feel a deep loneliness.  This chakra draws energy u through the other 6 energy centres and is connected with the colour violet for transformation, the colour gold of wisdom and the colour clear for purification.  This area is connected to our estrogen levels so when out of balance we suffer from migraines, exhaustion, endometriosis, fibroids, PMS, low libido, cellulite, thyroid problems and breast lumps.
